PARS 50 Salvage Vessel
T-ARS 50 Safeguard Class Salvage Vessel
The Rescue and Salvage ships Safeguard (T-ARS 50), Grasp (T-ARS 51), Salvor (T-ARS 52) and Grapple (T-ARS 53) are the Navy's newest salvage ships. They are operated by the Military Sea Lift Command and augment the Navy's Towing and heavy lift capacity. The capabilities of these ships can be increased by combining the resources of Mobile Diving & Salvage Units (MDSU) and deck loaded equipment to support diving and salvage task as required. This class of ships, built by Peterson Builders Inc., were commissioned between April 1985 and February 1986.
