(U.S. Navy photo by Aviation Machinist's Mate Airman Amanda Huntoon/Released)   NORTH SEA (July 21, 2011) Navy divers assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 2 begin diving operations aboard the Military Sealift Command rescue and salvage ship USNS Grasp (T-ARS 51). MDSU-2 and Navy archeologists, scientists, and historians are in the North Sea conducting diving operations verifying the sites of suspected shipwrecks. Rhinehart/Released)   U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Crane Recovery - Kaw Lake, Oklahoma, 3 May 2011.  U.S. Navy divers from NUWC Keyport, WA and SUPSALV salvage engineers supported the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in recovering a 45-Ton crane that tipped over the edge of Kaw Lake dam into 75 feet of water on 6 January.  In this photo, the crane has been buoyed to the surface with lift bags and the team is ready to begin pulling it to shore.  Divers subsequently completed the salvage on 6 May.   3/31/2011 - SUPSALV conducted a oil spill response equipment deployment exercise in conjunction with the USNS NAVAJO (T-ATF-169) in Hawaii during the week of 28-31 March. The Navy's High Speed Vessel of Opportunity skimmer system was deployed off the port side of the vessel using a paravane to guide the outboard leg. The system was successfully demonstrated to multiple entities that came to observe including the Hawaiian Clean Islands Council, NAVFAC and NAVSUP employees. Annual pollution response exercises are hosted by each ESSM facility to ensure equipment and personnel readiness in the event of a major spill.     Next
