Emergency Breathing Systems

MK 1 Mod 0 EBS Type IIwpe5.jpg (10678 bytes)        The MK 1 Mod 0 EBS Type II is a surface-supplied emergency breathing source for EOD Divers in support of MK 16 operations. The EBS-II is used only as an emergency breathing source during in-water decompression in the event of a catastrophic failure of the MK 16 or depletion of breathing gas. The system enables topside personnel to control and monitor emergency breathing gas being supplied to divers during decompression for dive profiles to 300 FSW. In addition, it enables voice communication between topside personnel and divers while divers are decompressing using the Full Face Mask MK 24 and enables topside personnel to monitor and control depth of divers ascending to or at decompression stops.

MK 2 Mod O EBS Type I

The MK 2 Mod 0 EBS Type I is a portable emergency breathing system utilized to support in-water decompression dives to 200 FSW. The EBS-I is used only as an emergency breathing source for one diver during in-water decompression in the event of a catastrophic failure of the MK 16 Mod 0 UBA.
