  Notice: This is a U.S. Government Web Site

This is a World Wide Web site for official information about the U.S. Department of the Navy and Naval Sea Systems Command. It is provided as a public service by the Supervisor of Salvage (SUPSALV). The purpose is to provide information and news about the SUPSALV office to the general public.

All information on this site is public domain and may be distributed or copied unless otherwise specified. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested.

Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this Web site are strictly prohbited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1987 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

Except for authorized law enforcement investigation and to maintain required correspondence files, no other attempts are made to identify users or their usage habits. Raw data logs* are used to simply determine how many users are accessing the site, which pages are the most popular, and, from time to time, from which top level domain users are coming. This data is scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration Guidelines.


  "We will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our site unless you choose to provide such information to us. If you choose to send email to the site webmaster or submit an online feedback form, any contact information that you provide will be solely used to respond to your request and not stored."

  COOKIE DISCLAIMER
SUPSALV does not use persistent cookies, i.e. tokens that pass information back and forth from your machine to the server and remain after you close your browser.

SUPSALV does use session cookies, i.e, tokens that remain active only until you close your browser, in order to (make the site easier for you to use). No database of information obtained from these cookies is kept and when you close your browser, the cookie is deleted from your computer.

SUPSALV uses cookies in the following ways:
To save you time in filling out forms.
To maintain a relationship between the image and the correct link.

You can choose not to accept these cookies and still use the site, but (you may need to enter the same information repeatedly and clicking on the banners will not take you to the correct page). The help information in your browser software should provide you with instruction on how to disable cookies.

  INFORMATION COLLECTED AND STORED AUTOMATICALLY

The Internet domain (for example "yourcompnany.com") and IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our website;

If you linked to the SUPSALV website from another website, the address of that website. We use this information to help us make our site more useful to visitors -- to learn about the number of visitors to our site. We do not track or record information about individuals and their visits.
